Gossip and Secret
Absorb gossip about other people, but think twice before you passing it on. While gossip is frivolous, secrets have true power. Secrets are truths that an individual decides to tell you. So when you are told a secret, as a trusted confidant, you have a special level of influence over that person so long as you keep the secret. But if you lose it the moment you spill it to anyone else. Do you imagine that whoever told you their secret would trust you again if they found out you had shared their deepest, darkest secret with even one single other person? We expect others to keep our secrets. Dedicate yourself to keeping them too.
Detachment and Determination
The moment we get too attached to things, people, we will screw up! Whenever we are desperately involved - emotionally attached to a transaction or a happening, we obstruct it. The flip-side to the principle? Relax a little and "Bingo!" Detachment is not disinterest. It is possible to be detached and still be very determined.
